Rights and Religion in the United States of America

by Q Ball

“There is no provision in the Constitution that says one has the right “to not be offended”. I will defend anyone who wants to burn the Koran, Bible, Torah, American Flag etc.

I don’t think any of those should be burned, but if everyone who tries to do it is intimidated from doing so, then if becomes a de-facto ban, and that I cannot abide.

The violence that would have occurred says nothing about the pastor and everything about the people who would have carried out the acts.

The President, in this interview demonstrated the the desired outcome of terrorism. The terrorists want to change our behavior under threat of attack. The President is afraid of what will happen should an American express them self as protected by the first amendment to the Constitution.

Jack: I would add that, in relenting from this action because it might “offend” Muslims or “incite” violence, this Pastor is, in point of fact, submitting to Sharia Law. Sharia Law allows no criticism or disrespectful treatment of Islam or the Koran.

By stopping this man, they have enforced Sharia Law – through threat of violence. Welcome to the rule of Islam in America. Not total rule, not complete dominance, but one step in that direction.

First you intimidate and stifle the kufar, you demand and pressure them into compliance with Sharia Law.

You consolidate your power through influence in the media, education and politics.

You build a power base of an ever-greater population of Muslims until you reach critical mass and can openly enforce Sharia Law in every respect.

I’m not saying this is going to happen this year – maybe not even this decade, but it is the direction the US is heading, it is the path Europe has already been on for decades.

We have an aggressive, committed, clever enemy. If we are passive they will continue to gain ground until it is too late.

Does a Koran-burner have blood on his hands if Muslims react with violence?

Politicians, the military and the media say that the Florida pastor who is planning on burning Korans will be responsible for blood shed “if” (when?) Muslims react violently to this event.

First of all, the guy who’s planning this is completely wrong. Bad idea, very bad idea. But he is not responsible for the reactions.

1. The Muslims who react violently are responsible for their own violent actions, no one else.

We are all responsible for controlling our own emotions – even followers of Islam. Just because someone insulted us, offended us or mistreated our religion does not excuse violent behavior.

2.Let’s say that the critics are right: that the idiot who decided to burn Korans will have blood on his hands. What about the idiot broadcasters who, rather than ignoring the moron, turn it into a huge news story and spread it all over the world?

The people in the media who broadcast this story, who ensure that reports of this stupidity gets sent to Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudia Arabia, all over the world – how much responsibility do they carry for blood that is shed?

3. If Islam is such a peaceful, tolerant religion, why are we concerned?

Nigeria: group seeking to implement Sharia Law stages a prison break

“A prison break by an armed group known as Boko Haram has raised fears of renewed violence in northern Nigeria just months before elections.

The group staged a raid on the prison on Tuesday night in the town of Bauchi, freeing more than 100 followers.

The attack left the prison in ruins and showed the group, which is seeking to institute sharia [Islamic law] in the country, had access to the sophisticated weapons it needed to overpower prison guards.”

Afghan driver kills 2 Spanish Nato trainers he worked with for 5 months

“Two Spanish police trainers and their interpreter have died in Afghanistan after being shot by their driver.

The driver opened fire while the trainers were teaching a class in Badghis province in western Afghanistan. Other officers then killed the driver.

Spanish authorities said the driver had been working with their trainers for around five months.

“I can’t say if the Taliban were behind this or not. But what is clear is that it was a premeditated attack,” said Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, the Spanish interior minister. “The person who opened fire knew exactly what he was doing.”

Jack: This highlights a key problem in working with Muslims – how do you know? It’s clear what their holy book teaches on how to treat non-Muslims. How do you know when they are one of the “moderate” Muslims and when they are just waiting for the right opportunity to shoot you?

Answer: you don’t. Until they shoot you. Remember Fort Hood?

The world is not black-and-white, there are no easy answers

With all the objections Americans might have to Islam, it is good to be reminded, now and then, that it is unwise, foolish, to lump any large group of people into one box and label them as all “the same”.

It is one thing to criticize an ideology, but people need to be judged as individuals, on a case-by-case basis. Yes, sometimes you do need to make generalizations, you do need to recognize patterns, but don’t forget that they are generalizations and try to stay open minded without being naive.

This doesn’t mean you ignore a genuine threat, but at the same time, it is good to remember that there are remarkable people in the world – people from all kinds of backgrounds and beliefs.

What “Religioius Tolerance” looks like in Pakistan

Non-Muslim brothers falsely accused of blasphemy were murdered while in handcuffs outside a courtroom

One thing most Americans haven’t figured out yet is that small-population Islam, where Islam is a minority, is very, very different from large-population Islam, where Islam is a majority.

While the numbers are low, Islam keeps a low profile, does all it can to look harmless, even kind and generous. The ugliness and brutality only show up once a country reaches a critical mass of Muslims and followers of Islam begin to feel they can safely implement the violent teachings of the Koran with no fear of resistance.

This is why many Americans object to more mosques being built in the US. It’s not because Americans are hateful people, it is because they do not want hateful people moving into their neighborhoods. Or people who teach children to be hateful.

Sure, Americans have their share of idiots who mistreat and disrespect anyone who looks different from them, but overall Americans are still open-hearted, truly generous people who will give nearly anyone the benefit of the doubt – until they are proven wrong.

Here’s a story from Pakistan that illustrates my point about how intolerant Islam is when it has the majority, when the numbers of Muslims are high and the non-Muslims are a minority: Continue reading

Kind-hearted Muslims donate money to World Vision, a Christian charity

Sounds good, right?

See? Those Muslim people aren’t so bad, we’ve got them all wrong! They’re nice. Maybe we need to let them build more mosques, after all.

Most Americans, in their lovable but naive habit of thinking that everyone has the same good nature as them, would look at this story and conclude that maybe all this objection to Islam is a narrow-minded over reaction.

And that is exactly what you are supposed to think.

Here’s the story: Continue reading

The Outrage of a Church Burning the Quran

Burning the Quran is a stupid, pointless act; let’s start out with that. It’s hard to imagine what good the church in Florida thought would come from burning the Quran. It’s not smart, and from what I read in the Bible, it’s not something Jesus would do.

Even though many the teachings of Islam are violent, hateful and offensive, there are men and women who grew up as Muslims that are not violent people, and those people need to not be lumped in with the Muslims who chop off the heads of non-Muslim schoolgirls.

We need to show our fellow humans who are stuck in Islam a better way, we need to live out a good example of what it means to be a civilized human being (not that there seems to be much chance of them getting it, and learning from positive examples. Not a good track record there for Islam).

And we need to not let them misinterpret our offer of tolerance (if it is treated with the respect it deserves) as a sign of weakness to be exploited.

I understand why followers of Islam would be quite upset by someone burning their book.

I do find it ironic, though, that followers of Islam create such an outcry over “outrageous” acts like burning a book when followers of Islam apparently are quite comfortable with things like cutting off the heads of non-Muslim school girls and hacking up non-Muslims with machetes.

WARNING: graphic image that shows clearly the brutality of Islam: Continue reading

DOJ investigating hate crimes

Among the incidents under investigation as potential hate crimes, all dating from July and August:

— A Muslim cab driver in New York City had his face and throat slashed in a suspected hate crime. Michael Enright of Brewster, N.Y., has been indicted on state hate-crime charges in the attack and could also face assault and attempted murder charges.

— Arson at the site of a future mosque in Murfreesboro, where leaders of the local Islamic Center won permission in the spring to build a new mosque after outgrowing their rented space.

— A brick nearly smashed a window at the Madera Islamic Center in central California, where signs were left behind that read, “Wake up America, the enemy is here,” and “No temple for the god of terrorism.”

— A fire and graffiti at the Dar El-Eman Islamic Center in Arlington, Texas.

— Police arrested five teenagers after the son of one of the founders of a mosque in Waterport, N.Y., on Lake Ontario was sideswiped by a sport utility vehicle. One teen was charged with firing a shotgun in the air near the mosque a few days earlier.

Horrible. Just Horrible. Not to mention the whole Quran burning idiocy. This is not the way to respond, America!

Still, to keep things in perspective, let’s take a look at what followers of Islam have done to non-Muslims in July and August:

(Of course, these are not hate crimes, they are “expressions of Religious Freedom” by the Religion of Peace.)

[Sarcasm Alert!] It is such a mystery why citizens of the US object to having followers of Islam intrude into their neighborhoods. Why are they so upset? Could it be because they don’t want any of this (see chart, below) coming anywhere near their homes?
