11 Afghans injured in anti-Quran-burning protests

Afghans shout anti-U.S. slogans as they burn tires and block a highway during a protest in reaction to a small American church's plan to burn copies of the Quran, at Jalalabad, east of Kabul, Afghanistan, Friday.

“KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Thousands of Afghans are protesting a small American church’s plan to burn the Muslim holy book. At least 11 people have been injured.

Police in the northern province of Badakhshan say several hundred demonstrators ran toward a NATO compound where four attackers and five police were injured in clashes. Protesters also burned an American flag at a mosque after Friday prayers.”

Terry Jones web site pulled down by Rackspace

A sign outside the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida. The official Dove World Church site was taken offline today. Newscom

“Web-hosting company Rackspace has pulled down a pair of websites belonging to the Dove World Outreach Center church and the Rev. Terry Jones, who promised – and then canceled plans – to burn copies of the Koran on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. As of 9 p.m. on Thursday, the official Dove World site remained offline, although the cached version was still available.

Dan Goodgame, a spokesman for Rackspace, which is based in Texas, told the AFP today that Dove World had “violated the Offensive Content section of its Acceptable Use policy… As a customer of Rackspace, they agree to adhere to the policy and they didn’t,” Goodgame added.

According to the AFP, Goodgame pointed specifically to a clause that forbids any content that is “excessively violent, incites violence, threatens violence, or contains harassing content or hate speech; and creates a risk to a person’s safety or health, creates a risk to public safety or health, compromises national security, or interferes with a investigation by law enforcement.”

Question: is throwing a rock through a church sign because you don’t like what the church is saying…is that a hate crime? Or is it only a hate crime if the sign belongs to a mosque?

Another Question: if someone starts threatening to commit violence because they don’t like other Rackspace-hosted websites, will those violent threats now make the content on those websites “Offensive”?

Hundreds of websites offend people. Do we start taking them all down? Or do only take down sites if someone threatens to commit violence? BTW: Dove World was not threatening violence – Muslims were.

Should the media have ignored Terry Jones and his Koran-burning plan?

Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center speaks at a news conference in Gainesville, Fla., Wednesday. Jones stated that he would go forward with a scheduled burning of copies of the Koran at his church on Sept. 11, and then reversed himself the next day. John Raoux/AP

“…as news of the Koran burning circled the globe during the past week, so did questions about the role of the media in fanning the controversy.

US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton this week rapped the media for giving the Rev. Mr. Jones attention and suggested the media “ignore” his actions on Sept. 11.

Deepak Chopra, author of the forthcoming book “Muhammad,” says in an e-mail: “The media has a responsibility to not contribute to rage and possible violence by not making a global phenomenon of what could have been a nonevent by an unimportant pastor.”

Why Afghanistan has reacted so sharply to threat of Quran burning

Afghans burn tires and block a highway during a protest, in reaction to a small American church's Quran burning threat, at Jalalabad, east of Kabul, Afghanistan, Friday. Rahmat Gul/AP

“While it’s hard to see an isolated Quran burning in Florida driving many ethnic Tajiks or Uzbeks to the Taliban’s side, the history of Afghanistan is replete with examples of insults against Islam – real or imagined –- lighting the dry religious tinder that cuts across ethnic lines there. That’s a strategy the Taliban has pursued for decades.

For Afghans, the physical Quran has symbolic force of its own. In traditional tribal battles, if one side was seeking to parlay or surrender, it would typically send a woman out holding high a Quran, much as Western armies once used white flags. Ironically, one of the pro-communist rulers of Afghanistan in the 1970s called a press conference at which he waved a Quran that he said had been desecrated by his political opponents. The attempt to rally political support failed, since his Soviet sponsors were well understood not to favor religion.

Perceived insults have affected Afghanistan in the past. In 2005, a riot broke out in Jalalabad after Newsweek incorrectly reported that a US interrogator had flushed a Quran down the toilet at Guantánamo Bay. Not only were examples of the foreign presence attacked (the UN withdrew staff from the city after two of its guesthouses were attacked), but so were Afghan government installations, since the administration of President Hamid Karzai is seen by many Afghans as a symbol of the foreign presence as well. Four rioters were killed before the incident petered out.”

Pakistan Ideological Council member: Obama should offer Eid prayers at Ground Zero Mosque and become Caliph of the Muslim World

ISLAMABAD – In a development that could be duly termed as one and only of its kind, an incumbent Government’s Minister has urged US President Barrack Obama to offer Eid prayers at Ground Zero Mosque and become “Ameer-ul-Momineen” of Muslim Ummah.

Minister of State for Industries and former member Pakistan Ideological Council Ayatullah Durrani called TheNation on Wednesday to register his demand made to President Obama.

“The coming Eid would expectedly be observed on 9/11, this a golden opportunity for President Obama to offer Eid prayers at Ground Zero and become Amir-ul-Momineen or Caliph of Muslims. In this way, all the problems of Muslim World would be solved,” he thought.

Durrani argued that Muslim World was in “dire need” of a Caliph and the distinguished slot of Caliphate would earn President Obama the exemplary titles of what he termed, “Mullah Barrack Hussain Obama” or “Allama Obama.”

“The time is approaching fast. Barrack Hussain Obama must act now. This is a golden opportunity, Muslims badly need it,” he added, saying that the elevation of President Obama to Muslim’s Caliphate would be the “key to success.”

Qur’an teaches followers of Islam to cut off heads – and they are doing it.

How offensive! Someone dares to think about burning the Qur’an!

The Holy Book of the Religion of Peace!

Let’s take a peek inside that pages of that book:

Qur’an 8:12 ”Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: ‘I will terrorize the unbelievers.’ Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes.”

Question: do you think “Freedom of Religion” should include the freedom for “Religious Leaders” to teach followers – exhort them – to cut off the heads of people who disagree with them?

Think this is over-reacting? Think this is Islamophobia?

Then I challenge you: watch these videos.

13 year-old Somalian girl raped by three Muslim men – stoned to death for “adultery”

“Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow, was forced into a hole, buried up to her neck then pelted with stones by more than 50 MUSLIM men until she died in front of 1,000 jeering spectators.

The girl had been accused of adultery in breach of Islamic law, but sources told Amnesty International that she had in fact been raped by three men, and had attempted to report this rape. None of men she accused of rape were arrested.

She was detained by militia of the Kismayo authorities, a coalition of Al-shabab and clan militias. Initial reports said she confessed to adultery before a Sharia court. Amnesty said it had learned she was only 13 and that her father had said she was gang raped by three men.

Yes, that was her crime, she was raped by three Muslim men! When the family tried to report the rape, the girl was accused of adultery and detained.

Muslim co-founder of Islamic charity convicted of helping smuggle $150,000 to Muslim fighters in Chechnya

“A federal jury on Thursday convicted the co-founder of an Islamic charity chapter who was accused of helping smuggle $150,000 to Muslim fighters in Chechnya.

Seda claimed the money was intended as a tithe that his accountant failed to disclose on a tax return for the U.S. chapter of the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation in Ashland, Ore. The foundation has been declared a terrorist organization by the U.S. government.

Prosecutors said Seda had a more sinister purpose, arguing throughout the weeklong trial that he was a Muslim radical posing as a moderate promoting peace. They alleged he was trying to smuggle the money to help fighters overthrow the Chechnyan government.

Jack: Take note, readers: the U.S. chapter of the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation  has been declared a terrorist organization by the U.S. government.

Another American Muslim “Charity” turns out to a terrorist organization. And the media is just so puzzled about why American citizens are alarmed at the encroaching growth of Islam in their towns and cities.

Is America Islamophobic? NO! We just do not want more and more deceitful, dangerous Islamic organizations in our nation.

Patriot Donald Trump’s offer to buy-out investor in NY Mosque is rejected

“Donald Trump offered Thursday to buy out a major investor in the real estate partnership that controls the site near ground zero where a Muslim group wants to build a 13-story Islamic center and mosque.

The offer, though, fell flat nearly instantly.

In a letter released Thursday by Trump’s publicist, the real estate investor told Elzanaty that he would buy his stake in the lower Manhattan building for 25 percent more than whatever he paid.

“I am making this offer as a resident of New York and citizen of the United States, not because I think the location is a spectacular one (because it is not), but because it will end a very serious, inflammatory, and highly divisive situation that is destined, in my opinion, to only get worse,” the letter said.

Trump also attached a condition to his offer: He said that as part of the deal, the backers of the project would need to promise that any new mosque they constructed would be at least five blocks farther away from the World Trade Center site.

Outrage! Holy Bibles incinerated in Afghanistan! Wait – that’s OK

… it is the height of hypocrisy for the U.S. government to condemn the [Florida] church, considering the fact that the U.S. military incinerated Bibles that were sent to Afghanistan in May 2009.

“There’s really a staggering level of hypocrisy and double standard here for the military to burn the Holy Bible and then complain when a pastor’s going to do the same thing to the Quran,” Fischer contends. “You know, if the military was going to be fair here and even-handed, they would count up the number of Holy Bibles that they incinerated in Afghanistan, and then they would allow Reverend Jones to burn the same number of Qurans.”

The AFA issues analysis director believes the whole incident illustrates the difference between Christianity and Islam. “When these Bibles were burned [in May 2009], the Christian community did not riot in the streets; we did not threaten violence against anyone,” he points out. “[But] when even the threat of Qurans being burned takes place, it’s like we’re dealing with Armageddon [or] with World War III.”
