We are not safer than before 9/11: Homegrown terrorists

And where are these terrorists nurtured, fed and cultivated? In Mosques
Michael Scheuer blames it on our policies – completely missing the true driving force: the intolerant, racist, hateful teachings of the Koran and purists Islamic imams.

America is not at war with Islam –

But Islam is at war with America.

Because that is what the Koran teaches – convert, kill or subjugate the kufar. That’s you, if you are not a Muslim.

(Not all wars are fought with guns and bombs. The war is going on, right now, all around you. Quietly.)

Former NYC teacher busted for selling weapons to undercover cops posing as terrorist agents

“Former NYC teacher wet his pants after being busted for selling high powered weapons to undercover cops acting as Middle East terrorist agents

The arrest caps a yearlong investigation that saw Burroughs allegedly negotiate the sale of firearms– including AK-47s, assault rifles with scopes, and .40-caliber guns during “deals” with informants in which he praised terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah and suggested killing cops and Jews. NY POST Theophilus Burroughs, former Stuyvesant HS teacher, wet his pants when he […]

Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer: Quran-burning may not be protected under the First Amendment.

CNS NEWS CLINTON-appointee Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer said on Tuesday that globalization may change the way the First Amendment applies in the United States, and he suggested that Pastor Terry Jones’ proposed Quran-burning may or may not be protected under the First Amendment.

Breyer pointed to Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes’ opinion in a 1919 case testing the limits of First Amendment protection. Holmes argued that shouting “fire!” in a crowded theater would not be protected speech because people could be trampled in the rush to escape a burning theater.

“And what is the crowded theater today?” Breyer asked. “What is being trampled to death?”

Cartoonist Molly Norris: changes her name, goes into FBI protection after Islamic cleric calls for her murder.

How can anyone say Islam is tolerant? Here is yet another example of how intolerant this religion is: a cartoonist had to go into hiding, change her identity, fearing for her life, because she did something that upset a religious leader from “The Religion of Peace”?

This is terrorism.

The story:

Cartoonist Molly Norris Changes Name, Moves after Fatwa

Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris, who declared May 20 to be “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day”, has gone into FBI protection following a fatwa from radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki calling for her murder.

Molly Norris drew a cartoon in support of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, whose own cartoon depicting a South Parkified version of the Prophet Mohammed was censored by Comedy Central.

Molly Norris’ cartoon, which declared May 20 to be “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day”, was not a real-life call to action (she was organizing no such event), but it took on a life of its own, spawning Facebook groups with which Molly Norris was not affiliated.

You may have noticed that Molly Norris’ comic is not in the paper this week. That’s because there is no more Molly. The gifted artist is alive and well, thankfully. But on the insistence of top security specialists at the FBI, she is, as they put it, “going ghost”: moving, changing her name, and essentially wiping away her identity.

Most comment threads attached to versions of this story revolve around how inappropriate it is that words and pictures are met with real-life violence or threats of violence.

Also mentioned in these discussions (and rightly so) is that Islam does not have a monopoly on religiously-inspired acts of violence.

However, with all that in mind, it’s known that radical Islamists do indeed lash out at perceived slights from the western media: just ask Lars Vilks. Whether or not such radical elements should or shouldn’t respond to media items with violence is a theoretical question, which is fine, but the fact of the matter is that they do. That’s the real-life context in which Norris’ situation is playing out.

In light of this, should Molly Norris have seen this coming? Should she have expected her cartoon to take hold the way it did? What do you think was her ideal outcome from publishing the cartoon? Most importantly, should she have put the cartoon for publication, even knowing the risks involved?

Jack: So, because we know in advance that they are violent, we should tip-toe around them so we don’t upset them? If we do upset them, then the resulting violence is our fault, because we should have known better?

How about this: how about the world starts holding Islamic leaders accountable for threatening to kill and telling their followers to kill?

How about we stop letting Islam hide under the shield of “Religious Freedom”, stop giving it a pass on the grounds of “multi-culturalism”?

How many things like this have to happen before Americans become bold enough to say, “No. We do not any more Islam in the United States. Just calling itself a religion is not enough for it to be accepted into our society. It is toxic and hateful and intolerant and we will not accept it, will not allow it to grow here.”

Also, I am so very weary of people following up every story of the latest Islamic atrocity with, “Of course, other religions do stuff like this, too.”

No they don’t – not on this level of frequency and violence, not even close. Stop excusing Islam. Stop accepting what is unacceptable. Stop letting Islam intimidate and bully people.

Cordoba: a bit of history

The proposed mosque and “community center” in NYC is called “Cordoba House”

Why? What’s the story behind that name? A few bits of info from Wikipedia may help clarify:

“For large parts of its history, particularly under the Caliphate of Córdoba, al-Andalus was a beacon of learning, and the city of Córdoba became one of the leading cultural and economic centres in both the Mediterranean Basin and the Islamic world.

Córdoba was the intellectual centre of al-Andalus, with translations of ancient Greek texts to Arabic, Latin and Hebrew. Appreciable advances in science, history, geography, philosophy and grammar occurred during the Caliphate.”

Jack: Well, shoot,”intellectual centre”, “advances in science”, that all sounds pretty darn good, doesn’t it? Only there is more to the story:

48 Christians of Córdoba were decapitated for religious offences against Islam. They became known as the Martyrs of Córdoba. These deaths played out, not in a single spasm of religious unrest, but over an extended period of time; dissenters were fully aware of the fates of their predecessors and chose to protest against Islamic rule.

The 11th century saw Muslim pogroms against Jews in Spain; those occurred in Cordoba in 1011 and in Granada in 1066.

The Caliphate of Córdoba ruled the Iberian peninsula and North Africa from the city of Córdoba, from 929 to 1031.The rule of the Caliphate is known as the heyday of Muslim presence in the Iberian peninsula.

Don’t believe the smooth talk about Cordoba being a symbol of cultural unity – it is a symbol of Islamic rule. But, you protest, they wouldn’t lie, would they? (look up the word “taqiyya”) They sound so nice, it’s just about God and Love and well, we all think those are good things, right?

They want you to believe that is the purpose, to be a place where multi-culturalism can grow, tolerance can grow – but to the rest of the Islamic world, if they can pull this off, the Cordoba Mosque in New York will be a huge victory and a symbol that will encourage further conquest of the United States. Quietly. Bit by bit.

Crazy? No one is ruling the US, right? We are not under Sharia Law, right? Every time an American is silenced, is intimidated into not objecting to the oppressive nature of Islam, that is submission to Sharia Law. Sharia Law forbids criticism of Islam. If you let yourself be intimidated into not criticizing Islam, you have submitted to Sharia Law.

Penn Jillette is under Sharia Law. He has submitted, because of valid fears for the safety of his family, to the Law of Islam.

Mexico’s indigenous minority converting to Islam

Compared to other countries in Latin America with sizeable Muslim communities, Mexico’s Muslim population is tiny.

In southern Mexico, the indigenous Mayan population is a minority – but another minority is being created within that group, as more and more Mayans convert from Catholicism.

In Chiapas, Frank Contreras takes a look at how Islam is gaining a foothold in the region.
