Netherlands Freezes Contacts With Iran Over Woman’s Execution

(RTTNews) – The Dutch government announced Saturday that it has frozen all contacts with Iran to protest against the hanging of a Dutch-Iranian woman on drug smuggling charges after having arrested her initially for participating in anti-government protests.

Bahrami was born in Iran, but she had gained Dutch citizenship later after moving to the Netherlands. Her family insists that the drug smuggling charges pressed against Bahrami were fabricated by the Iranian authorities.

Live From the Egyptian Revolution: Hope for positive change in Egypt?

“There is a great sense of pride that this is a leaderless movement organized by the people. A genuine popular revolt. It was not organized by opposition movements, though they have now joined the protesters in Tahrir. The Muslim Brotherhood was out in full force today. At one point they began chanting “Allah Akbar” only to be drowned out by much louder chants of “Muslim, Christian, we are all Egyptian.”

Libel Lawfare: tactic used by Muslim organizations to silence criticism of radical Islam.

Excerpts from a talk by David Harris, who like many other was the victim of libel lawfare: The tactic used by Muslim organizations to silence criticism of radical Islam.

David Harris was sued after talking in a radio show about the relations between the Canadian branch of CAIR (AKA CAIR-CAN) and the American branch of CAIR – which was exposed in the book ‘Muslim Mafia’ as a radical Muslim organizations that hides behind the normal Taqiyya-driven friendly face, while in the background supporting, sometimes publically, known terror organizations and tries as hard as it can to silence any criticism of it, affiliate organizations, Jihadist connections, etc.

Free Speech on Trial in Europe

“The “hate speech” trial of Lars Hedegaard, the president of the Danish Free Press Society and the International Free Press Society, began in a courthouse near Copenhagen on January 24. Hedegaard, who has been charged with “racism” for critical comments he made about Islam, faces up to two years in prison.

The Hedegaard trial is the second one in Denmark involving Islam-related “hate speech” in as many months. On December 3, 2010, a Danish court found Jesper Langballe, a Danish politician and Member of Parliament, guilty of hate speech for saying that honor killings and sexual abuse take place in Muslim families.

Langballe was denied the opportunity to prove his allegations because, under Danish law, it is immaterial whether a statement is true or false. All that is needed for a conviction is for someone to feel offended. Langballe was summarily sentenced to pay a fine of 5,000 Danish Krone (approximately $1,000) or spend ten days in jail”

Pakistan: Islamic hard-liners expanding their grip on society

Pakistanis chant slogans as they gather to show their support outside the Rawalpindi home of Mumtaz Hussain Qadri, who is accused of killing courageous, moderate Punjab Gov. Salman Taseer. (Aamir Qureshi, AFP/Getty Images / January 21, 2011)

Rawalpindi, Pakistan —
“The killing of a governor opposed to the nation’s blasphemy law, and the warm reception for his accused killer, has exposed Islamic fundamentalists’ growing sway over the nation.

Above a dank, darkened teahouse pungent with the aroma of green chili peppers, a bright blue banner depicts a neighborhood cleric, Qari Hanif Qureshi, declaring: “Anyone opposing laws protecting the sanctity of the prophet Muhammad is condemned!”

Such dire exhortations from local imams are embraced by millions of impoverished Pakistanis scraping by in squalid, dust-choked city neighborhoods and mud-hut settlements.”

Kenya: Push for Islamic Courts Alarms non-Muslims

Authorities took note of sympathizers of Islamic extremists at protest in Nairobi, Kenya last month.

“Emergence of Somali-related Islamic extremists puts authorities on high alert.
NAIROBI, Kenya, February 11 (CDN) — A constitutional battle to expand the scope of Islamic courts in Kenya threatens to ignite religious tensions at a time when authorities are on high alert against Muslim extremists with ties to Somalia.

Constitutional provisions for Islamic or Kadhis’ courts have existed in Kenya since 1963, with the courts serving the country’s coastal Muslim population in matters of personal status, marriage, divorce, or inheritance. Kenya’s secular High Court has jurisdiction over civil and criminal matters, and even a decision in the Islamic courts can be appealed at the High Court.

The Islamic courts have functioned only in Kenya’s Coast Province, but in a hotly debated draft constitution, their jurisdiction would expand across the nation and their scope would increase.”

Islamic “tolerance” in Nigeria: choir members hacked to death, pastor killed – on Christmas Eve

“Islamic extremist Boko Haram sect attacks churches in Borno, Plateau states.
LAGOS, Nigeria, December 28 (CDN) — Tensions continued to mount in the Christian community in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state in northern Nigeria, following the killing of a Baptist pastor and five other Christians on Christmas Eve.

The Rev. Bulus Marwa and the other Christians were killed in the Dec. 24 attacks on Victory Baptist Church in Alemderi and a Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN) congregation in Sinimari by the outlawed Islamic Boko Haram sect opposed to Western education.

Those killed at the Baptist church, which was set ablaze, included choir members Philip Luka, 22, and Paul Mathew, 21, as well as 50-year-old Christopher Balami and Yohana Adamu. Philip Sopso, a 60-year-old a security guard, was killed at the COCIN church while 25 other persons were said to have been injured during the serial attacks by the Islamic group.

The Boko Haram members reportedly first stormed the COCIN church in two vehicles and detonated bombs that shattered the gate of the worship center and killed the security guard.

Danjuma Akawu, who survived the attack on the Baptist church, said “they hacked the two choir members using knives and petrol bomb before heading to the pastor’s residence, where he was killed.”

Speaking during a visit to the Baptist church on Saturday (Dec. 25), the governor noted that the attack on the Christian community was an attempt by Boko Haram to create conflict between Christians and Muslims in the state. Several Boko Haram bomb blasts in Christian areas of Jos on Dec. 24 that killed scores of people were said to be an attempt to create the same inter-religious conflict.”

Islamic “tolerance” in Laos: Muslims destroy rice paddies of Christians who refuse to convert to Islam

Lao Officials Destroy Rice Paddies, Expel More Christians

“Katin villagers lose homes, livestock, land rights because of their faith.
DUBLIN, December 29 (CDN) — Officials and residents of Katin village in Ta Oih district, Saravan Province, on Sunday (Dec. 26) destroyed rice paddies farmed by 11 Christian families previously living in the village. The destruction followed the expulsion of another seven families last Thursday (Dec. 23).

Residents drained water from the rice paddies, burned fencing that protected the crop from animals and stamped on new seedlings to ensure the rice would not grow, advocacy group Human Rights Watch for Lao Religious Freedom (HRWLRF) reported.

The fields were destroyed just a few days after the Katin village chief and other village authorities armed with guns entered the homes of another seven Christian families, totaling 15 people, and ordered them to give up their faith.”

Islamic “tolerance” in Indonesia: Muslims block worship and pressure police to seize property over Christmas season

Police try to restrain protestors at a GKI Yamin Christmas night worship service in Bogor, West Java.

JAKARTA, Indonesia, January 10 (CDN) — “Government officials in West Java Province blocked one church from worshipping, and Islamic groups pressured authorities to seize the property of another during the Christmas season.

The Bogor Regency Administrative Leadership Council tried unsuccessfully to forbid the Gereja Kristen Indonesia (Indonesian Christian Church, or GKI) in Bogor’s Taman Yasmin area from holding a Dec. 25 Christmas service, but authorities did block it from its regular Sunday service on De.26. In Rancaekek, Bandung, Islamic demonstrators on Dec. 19 got police to remove items from a Huria Kristan Batak Protestan (HKBP) church building that had already been sealed.

In Bogor, GKI Yasmin spokesperson Bona Sigalingging said police telephoned church leaders to forbid Christmas services that were to begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 25.”
